About Mumbai

Mumbai city is known to be a tourist's paradise. Tourists who have visited this city, often have a lot of things to say about Mumbai, India. Mumbai was given to Charles II of England by the Portuguese as a dowry in the marriage of Catherine. The group of the seven islands was leased to the East India Company who in turn offered religion and freedom of business to the settlers of Mumbai, the then Bombay. The Parsis and the Gujaratis were the first dwellers of Mumbai, after which people started pouring in this city.
Mumbai is said to be the biggest metropolitan city of India, a financial capital of India, a celluloid capital of India, all rolled into one. The main festivals of Mumbai are Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, Holi and Gokul Ashtami.The most suitable time for visiting Mumbai is the time from October to March, though Mumbai experiences visitors throughout the year. People of Mumbai speak Marathi along with Hindi and English.

Everyone knows about Mumbai, India, as the fashion capital of India. It is a renowned city, culturally, due to the film industry, known as Bollywood. Cinema is very popular among the citizens of India. Lots of Hindi movies are mane in Bollywood every year, which are prime sources of entertainment for the Indians.

The International Film Festival is the major event in cinematic calendar of India. The film festivals which are staged at different venues all across Mumbai are well known in India and abroad.
