People can travel to Mumbai by Air and Rail, which are two main modes of travel to Mumbai. Unquestionably, Mumbai is the most cosmopolitan city of India which experiences a lot of travelers throughout the year. People can travel to Mumbai even in the long distance buses which have services within Maharashtra, the state of Mumbai and also outside Maharashtra, to the nearby states. The hub for these buses is the state road transport terminal opposite to the Central railway station of Mumbai. The state buses of Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, connect Mumbai to the nearby different states of India.
This cosmopolitan city is also the headquarters of two railway zones, namely, Western Railways and Central Railways. The important railheads of Mumbai are Churchgate and Chhatrapati Sivaji Terminus, previously known ad Victoria Terminus.
Most of the tourists opt to travel to Mumbai by Air. Being the busiest domestic air network of India, it has flights to major locations of India. The international terminal is within 30 kms., from the city center and the domestic network is with 4 kms. from the city center.
Mumbai is also the prominent railway hub of India. So, travel to Mumbai by Rail is opted by many people. The main railway station is Victoria terminal, which has been recently names as CST. Other popular rail stations of Mumbai are Kurla, Churchgate and Dadar. There are express and super fast trains available from Mumbai to most of the cities of India.
